CWU Faculty Recital - the Shea-Kim Duo
CWU faculty Brendan Shea (violin) and Yerin Kim (piano) will perform a free concert on October 16 at 6pm in the CWU McIntyre Music Building recital hall. This concert is the latter half of the Shea-Kim duo’s 2-year exploration of touch; touch as a feeling, emotion, sound and technique. This time with the soundscapes of 20th and 21st century composers. Schnittke's Suite in the Old Suite will take you through a familiar styles and textures with unexpected twists and surprises. This piece will take you to the Schnittke Sonata No.1, that will stretch the boundaries of your sound world. Martinu Sonata is a short sonata that will leave the audience with emotional and athletic satisfaction. Also in the program, Andrew Rindfleisch, a composer who has been awarded many of the most prestigious honors in American culture, including the Rome Prize, the Guggenheim Fellowship, and the Aaron Copland Award, wrote a piece for the Shea-Kim Duo and will be premiered in this CWU Concert.
