CWU Wind Ensemble Concert | Wildflowers
The Central Washington University Wind Ensemble under the musical direction of Dr. T. André Feagin opens the 2023-24 academic year with a concert titled “Wildflowers.” Featured on the program are works by former CWU composer-in-residence Paul Creston, Maurice Ravel, Carlos Simon, Percy A. Grainger, and Paul Hindemith. We are also excited to collaborate with soprano, Dr. Gayla Blaisdell (CWU professor of music, voice) in a performance of Eric Whitacre’s Goodnight Moon. The concert is scheduled for Wednesday, November 29, 2023, at 7:00pm in Hertz Concert Hall of the Jerilyn S. McIntyre Music Building. The event is free and open to the public. Repertoire includes in the following: Celebration Overture – Paul Creston Ma Mére l’Oye – Maurice Ravel Giovanni T. Clarke, graduate conductor Goodnight Moon – Eric Whitacre Dr. Gayla Blaisdell, soprano Lincolnshire Posy – Percy A. Grainger Sweet Chariot – Carlos Simon March from Symphonic Metamorphosis – Paul Hindemith The CWU Wind Ensemble is embarking on an incredible journey this academic as we prepare to perform at the 20th World Association for Symphonic Bands and Ensembles (WASBE) International Conference in Gwangju, South Korea (July, 2024).
